- Egos should always be left at the door – Neither of us have anything to prove. For example, if I ever draw on my own experiences, it is for the purpose of recognising alignment & understanding, & perhaps to illustrate what went right or wrong, & never as a contest. We all have good experiences. These sessions are about you!
- 2 and 2 makes 22 – Two brains on the same mission are exponentially better. My mission to to support your mission. Period.
- Every session should have a clear topic & intent. Exploring tangents are natural, & are a good way to validate the foundation of a thought, but we have to also make sure that relevant progress is made on the topic & intent. (we will create this plan together).
- Recognise there are bad ideas – Despite the contrary expression, there are lots of bad ideas. The only mistake is sticking to them rigidly when there is clearly a flaw & a better alternative.
- Prepare to be challenged. Everything is open to be challenged, no matter how obvious it may seem. Sometimes a challenge is necessary to help to re-enforce something, and not to break something down.
- Recognise that sometimes success is just luck, not skill – If something works out, it may not be down to skill, but instead to luck & circumstance. Even successes should be examined for repeatability, in case they were accidental. (& You can often learn more from mistakes than successes)
- Whatever the challenges are, another industry has probably solved it – Be willing to consider the answers may not need to be invented, but instead simply adopted.
- No-one is always right – Sometimes experience & gut instinct can still send us in the wrong direction. No-one is exempt from being wrong. (& that certainly includes me)
- We won’t always agree – But it’s never personal. If we disagree, that’s fine. It gives good grounds to explore, challenge & each evolve our thinking. (And if you don’t feel listened to, please tell me!)
- We each have our styles – (Apologising in advance,) I believe life is too short not to be very direct & honest. As such I have few boundaries, & always like to test the water. My style helps me to get results by a strong focus on identifying principles & getting results. I never have any intention to cause offence; ever! If I do, please recognise it is never intentional.
- The last 10 minutes of any session should be focused on summarising learnings & next steps – It’s easy for conversation to overspill. Let’s try to set a ‘hard stop’ if we can to allow for this, but be careful not to lose any great breakthroughs.
- Each session should focus on leaving you in a better place. Although confusion is a good thing, it should always lead to positive outcomes. My aim is for inspired gentle overload, leaving you with a lot to reflect on between sessions.
- My No.1 goal is that I want our sessions to offer immense value to you. I’m always open to how we can modify what we do & how we do it, to achieve that goal for you.
